Current Projects at the National Institute of Fine Art and Design Named After Kamoliddin Behzod (NIFAD)
The National Institute of Fine Art and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod (NIFAD) is actively engaged in several Erasmus+ Key Action initiatives that support the modernization and internationalization of higher education in Uzbekistan. Through Erasmus+, NIFAD strengthens its academic programs, improves staff qualifications, and expands global cooperation.

Erasmus+ Key Actions Involved at NIFAD

Key Action 1 (KA1) — Erasmus+ Mobility for Learners and Staff
KA1 focuses on International Credit Mobility (ICM), enabling the exchange of students, academic staff, and administrative staff between NIFAD and European partner universities. Through KA1, NIFAD benefits from:
• semester-long student mobility in fine arts, design, and art history;
• teaching and training mobility for academic staff;
• administrative training for international cooperation offices;
• stronger intercultural exchange and integration into European academic networks.
Key Action 2 (KA2) — Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices
KA2 projects help modernize curricula, strengthen institutional capacity, and introduce innovative teaching methodologies. Within KA2, NIFAD participates in international consortiums aimed at curriculum development, entrepreneurship training, and digital innovation.

Current  Projects at NIFAD

NIFAD currently works with several European universities through KA1 mobility agreements. These partnerships provide opportunities for students and staff to participate in academic exchange, professional development, and cultural immersion programs.
In addition, the institute is currently working on the development of new projects within the framework of Erasmus+ Jean Monnet actions and UNESCO initiatives. Project applications have been submitted within these frameworks.

Additional International Project

ItArts (International Art & Technology Collaboration)
In addition to Erasmus+ initiatives, NIFAD also participates in the international Italian project itArts, which focuses on integrating digital technologies into art education. Within itArts, students and faculty engage in joint workshops, creative laboratories, and digital art exchanges with partner institutions abroad. The program promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and helps students gain practical experience in contemporary digital art practices.
Importance of Erasmus Mobility for NIFAD
Erasmus mobility plays a key role in enhancing NIFAD’s international engagement by:
• giving students access to European art education and creative industry experience;
• improving teachers’ skills through exposure to new teaching methods;
• supporting administrative staff in international project management;
• fostering long-term cooperation with European academic institutions.
The National Institute of Fine Art and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod is currently engaged in active Erasmus+ Key Action 1 and Key Action 2 projects, as well as the international itArts program. Participation in mobility and innovation-focused initiatives strengthens NIFAD’s educational standards, modernizes its infrastructure, and increases its global visibility. These collaborations contribute to the advancement of higher education in Uzbekistan and prepare students for successful integration into the international creative community.
