Faculty history

The Faculty of Art History was established on the basis of the Department of “History and Theory of Fine Arts” by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 23, 1997 “On the establishment of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan”. The faculty is aimed at training highly qualified personnel in the field of art history and museum studies. At present, the faculty has 2 departments that train specialists. The faculty has 6 bachelor’s and 2 master’s specialties and a total of 317 students.

 

For many years the faculty was headed by art critic Sh.S.Gulamova, then candidate of philological sciences G.A.Karshiyeva, doctor of philological sciences L.R.Raupova, doctor of philosophical sciences (PhD) B.Yu.Sangirov as the dean of the faculty. The departments of the faculty have a total of 53 full-time and part-time professors and teachers. In particular, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Arts, Professor AA Hakimov, Academician of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Arts, Professor NRAhmedova, Doctor of Arts KBAkilova, Doctor of Arts DMKadirova, Doctor of Architecture MAYusupova, Doctor of Historical Sciences JXIsmoilova, as well as Doctor of Philosophy UHQoraboyev, Candidates of Arts Zirahimova, RSFathullayev, IRAbdurahmonov, Candidates of Historical Sciences DTKuryazova, History MSMuhamedova, PhD, NDKultasheva, PhD, DRAlimkulova, PhD, and others teach students.
